Grow Your Creative Communities

The Creative Assembly supports the development of the Cultural & Creative sector to engage and build creative and art based communities across the UK.

What is the Creative Assembly?

It's a Local Authority culture led initiative. The Creative Assembly is currently made up of six cultural Local Authority partners. We support and advocate for the development of the Cultural & Creative sector to engage and build creative and art based communities across the UK. The online network allows site owners and members to easily share knowledge, showcase creative events, advertise jobs and training opportunities, provide news and information and connect creative producers with each other.

How does it work?

The majority of the site content is user generated by creative and cultural producers (i.e. members), enabling the network owners to promote the Cultural & Creative sector and meet their cultural, creative and arts strategic targets more effectively & efficiently. The Creative Assembly network is free to use by registered members, accessible on desktop, tablets and phones. The site owners work together and with our technical partners Assembly Studios (www.assemblystudios.com) to continually upgrade platform, drive technical innovation and share best practice. The sites connect creatives with each other and new customers and audiences. Feedback from users demonstrates the success of the network.

Impact

Using geolocation tagging The Creative Assembly is a localised tool with national appeal. Each site is independently run and managed but also connected to each other providing national exposure to an established and rapidly growing audience. We currently have six active online communities managed either by their respective Local Authorities or their lead Cultural Organisations/Partnerships. Our network managers also enable opportunities for each community to linkup “offline” as they develop pathways to partnership projects that connect creative consumers, creative producers and audiences across the country.

5000 registered creative producers have profiles, there are more than 40,000 page viewings and 8000 images and films promoted across the network every month. Creative Assembly currently showcases 3375 creative places, businesses, individuals and Not For Profit Distributing groups and hosts 153 (job) opportunities, 764 upcoming events every quarter.

What's next

The Creative Assembly offers a unique support solution in the new world of diminishing public budgets where traditional support will be limited. Our aim over the next few years is to increase our networks to 16 by 2016, with a target user base of 30,000. This would provide the vehicle to move towards the creation of a national creative support and information network. Improved support features, social media integration and potentially providing an advertising platform from which network owners can monetise their networks are all on the road map for the coming years and we hope that you can join us in connecting our creative communities across the UK.
